The cycle to work scheme with no £1,000 limit

A big welcome from all of us at Green Commute Initiative, or GCI to our friends.

Green Commute Initiative is a Social Enterprise with a vision to get commuters out of cars and onto any kind of bike, with the dual purpose of improving both the individual’s health and wellbeing, as well as reducing the environmental impact of pollution and congestion from cars.  We do this through our cycle to work scheme.

No limits

One of the cool things about GCI is that you are not restricted by the normal £1,000 limit of other cycle to work schemes.  That’s right, no limits!  How is this possible?  Well, GCI is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority.   Check out our FCA certificate .

Not into E-bikes?

No problem, you can get a normal bicycle through our scheme.  You’ll still get all the scheme benefits, it’s just that you’ll have to work harder pedalling to work.  But hey, that’s up to you!

Power away on E-bikes

But what’s so great about E-bikes?  What’s not to love!  You can sail over hills and cruise long distances, all because of the battery.  This powers the bike, when you want it to, so whenever you feel cycling is taking too much effort, activate the power and away you go.  We call it the E-bike smile.  Once you’ve been on an E-bike, you’ll never look back.

Commuting heaven

E-bikes are great for commuting as you can cycle in your business clobber and not get all hot and bothered.  What’s more, you’ll turn up to work on time, feeling energised and not stressed from the commute.  As a cycle to work salary sacrifice scheme, you could save up to 47%* on the price of a bike.  And as the industry’s leading scheme, we don’t charge exit fees.  How refreshing!

In an ideal world

As we said earlier, we are a Social Enterprise.  We want more people on bikes.  Why?  Think of a world where there is less congestion, less pollution, less crowding on public transport and more car park spaces for motorists.  A world where employees become healthier, happier and more effective.  We can dream or we can make it our mission.  Which is exactly what we did.

* From 6th April 2024, due to a reduction in the National Insurance rate, the savings on the Cycle to Work Scheme for basic rate tax payers will reduce from 30% to 28%.
